nerdtoolbox.net is a small, growing collection of free networking utilities — the kind of quick jobs that come up every day when you work with IPs, subnets, and the rest of the stack.
Each tool does one thing and gets out of the way: no accounts, no ads, no tracking, and no fluff. The current lineup:
- Subnet Calculator — Break down an IPv4 or IPv6 CIDR into network, broadcast, host range, and mask details.
- IP Sort — Sort a list of IPv4 and IPv6 addresses or subnets into numeric order.
- PSK Generator — Generate a cryptographically random pre-shared key, with NATO phonetic names for every character.
- MAC Vendor Lookup — Look up the vendor for a list of MAC addresses or OUIs against the IEEE registry, updated daily.
- What's My IP? — See the public IPv4 and IPv6 addresses your connection appears from, with reverse DNS and whois links.
FAQ
Is this site AI slop?
AI-assisted? Yes. Slop? I hope not, but you be the judge. All of these tools are based on ones that I hand-wrote in PHP or Python over the course of the last 12 years. My AI of choice, Claude, has (with guidance) done the heavy lifting of converting them into Python/Flask.Since I`m not a big fan of dealing with CSS, the site design is also AI-assisted.
Is it "vibe coding?" Well, I do examine the content that Claude generates for me, and I often make adjustments, for what it's worth.
Do you store the data I enter?
No. Input sent to a tool is used only to produce the result on the page and isn't saved or logged by the application. The PSK Generator goes further and runs entirely in your browser, so the keys it generates never leave your machine.
Do you use cookies or analytics?
No. There are no tracking cookies, analytics scripts, or third-party resources loaded on this site.
Where does the MAC vendor data come from?
Lookups use the IEEE's public OUI registry, which is downloaded and refreshed daily.
Do the tools support IPv6?
Yes. The Subnet Calculator accepts IPv4 and IPv6 CIDRs, and IP Sort handles a mix of IPv4 and IPv6 addresses, subnets, and interface addresses.
